No longer producing its own smartphone, Nokia is now establishing cooperation with Xiaomi. This is a breakthrough of the Finnish company by partnering with Chinese mobile phone vendors.
Both have signed a multi-patent agreement covering cross-licenses for cellular standards and patents of each company. Not to forget, the deal went two ways.
Nokia's president and CEO, Rajeev Suri, said he hopes to work with Xiaomi on various strategic projects. Now, as far as the business cooperation is concerned, Nokia will provide Xiaomi network infrastructure equipment, which the company says is designed to provide high capacity, low power requirements expected by Internet service providers and major data center operators.
The two companies will work together in optical transport solutions, IP Routing based on the new Nokia SoC network, and data center fabric solutions. In a statement quoted from Android Headlines, Wednesday (5/7/2017) the two companies also said that they will explore further cooperation.
